Responsible Gambling

Gambling is not a way to earn income. Every real-money game carries a risk of loss, and no system can remove the house edge or guarantee a return. If gambling stops feeling like optional entertainment, pause now rather than trying to win losses back.

Keep firm limits

  • Set a loss limit before starting and treat it as the full cost of the session.
  • Use only money left after housing, food, bills, transport and savings.
  • Set a time limit and take regular breaks away from the screen.
  • Do not gamble with borrowed money, credit or funds belonging to someone else.
  • Avoid gambling when distressed, intoxicated, angry or trying to escape a problem.
  • Never increase a stake to recover an earlier loss.

Warning signs

Warning signs include hiding activity, spending more time or money than intended, cancelling commitments, borrowing to gamble, feeling restless when stopping, chasing losses or continuing despite harm to work and relationships. One sign is enough to justify a break and a confidential conversation.

Immediate Australian support

Gambling Help Online provides free, confidential support across Australia. Call 1800 858 858 or use its online chat 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you or another person is in immediate danger, call emergency services on 000.

Self-exclusion

BetStop is Australia's free National Self-Exclusion Register for licensed Australian online and phone wagering providers. Registration can run from three months to a lifetime. BetStop does not cover online casino services illegally supplied in Australia, so use operator blocking tools as well and report suspected illegal services to ACMA.

Protecting minors

Gambling is for adults only. Keep passwords and payment methods private, do not leave an account signed in on a shared device and use device-level parental controls where children may have access.

Our role

This site does not provide counselling and cannot exclude you from an operator. We can remove you from any mailing list we control, but account closures and gambling limits must be arranged with the operator or the appropriate exclusion service.
